HOW meet current needs without limiting the ability of future generations to meet their own needs? A construction of a school “zero energy.” At Limeil-Brévannes, in the Val-de-Marne, a school like no other should open its doors in April. The first French school “zero energy” future school group Jean-Louis Marquèze, receives about 3,000 square meters, 12 classes, in an area environmentally friendly. It was in 2005 that the project was started, with the help of officers Study Tribe. Ultimately, the school should consume less energy than it will produce. After conducting a survey in May 2006, work began in September of that year, with the help of creating a school group consisting of 5 nursery bungalow, a garden, 7 elementary classes, and finally a playground of 8,000 square meters on the terrace.

The orientation of the building
The building is oriented toward the south to cover during the winter heating needs by the heat from the sun.
A green roofs
A green roofs from 5 cm to 8 cm of Gras is equipped to isolate the building and delay the flow of rainwater. It is anticipated that the school collects rainwater to water the gardens. The flooring permeable help recharge groundwater with every rain.
The classes optimized
To promote natural light, the classes has large windows to reduce electric lighting. Some lamps with very low energy consumption are also installed. The natural light is powered by a dual approach of brilliance. The school is equipped with a double shift system that will retrieve all the warmth in the air before rejecting it on the outside. The heat pumps are installed to heat classrooms. Photovoltaic cells of about 80 kiloWatt-peak (kWp) were placed on the roof. The needs of children in hot water and electricity will be powered by solar thermal systems.
Finally, the school will allow to educate children about the need to protect our planet, from the earliest age, and hold them to account on a daily basis.
