Mitsubishi MiEV – Electric Car.
One of those new electric cars comming to the market is Mitsubishi MiEV. This small city car with the autonomy about 150 Km would be more than sufficient for me living at the Reunion Island. I would not be able to do”Tour de l’ile” with it, but almost… since the tour of the island is about 220 Km long.
Inside the car, the i-MIEV gets a new center console, along with equipment that improves the stability control comes standard, as well as side airbags and curtains. And also the driving wheel goes to the left for most of the European countries. The funny thing is that originally the driving wheel was on the right and the MiEV wasn’t ready to place the staring wheel to the left side.
As for the guarantee, the car will have a standard 5 year guarantee or 100 000 Km for all electric parts and the batteries too.
With an electric motor with a rated output of 35 kW, the i-MiEV is able to reach a maximum speed of 130 km / h.
The batteries are lithium-ion technology and were developed by Mitsubishi with GS Yuasa in partnership through a joint venture called Lithium Energy Japan.
Autonomy announced is 150 km but we must be very careful with this figure. In reality depend on the type of driving, area, the driver and also the use of options like air conditioning or heating can reduce the vehicle’s range of 30% …
Depending on the market, the i-MiEV will be selling at a price of around € 33,000 / € 35,000 so that the final cost to the customer, with governmental assistance, remains under 30 000 € in most countries where it will be sold.
