Thist time it’s for good. I beleive that this technology will bring the solar energy to the masses. Let’s have a look. I already talked about Nanosolar’s flexible solar panels which can lower the producing costs. But few days ago Konaraka announced succesfull testing a inkjet printing technology to produce a solar panels.

“Inkjet printing is considered very promising because the polymer devices can be fabricated very easily because of the compatibility with various substrates and it does not require additional patterning.”

“Demonstrating the use of inkjet printing technology as a fabrication tool for highly efficient solar cells and sensors with small area requirements is a major milestone,” commented Rick Hess, president and CEO at Konarka. “This essential breakthrough in the field of printed solar cells positions Konarka as an emerging leader in printed photovoltaics.”

Because to produce the panels is cheap and the film flexible, applications are varied.

“We constantly receive calls from innovators who have read about the cells and propose unique—sometimes wild and crazy—concepts for the technology.”
