This product is called LifePorts. It’s been developed by Envision Solar LifeSystems. What is it? They are the first fully integrated, system-built photovoltaic solar port for residential use They’re designed to be both sun shades for you or your car, and an easy way to generate renewable energy. The ports are in development for both grid-tied and off-grid applications. The products are available for purchase as do-it-yourself kits or for easy assembly by a proffesional.
At the top of the roof there are solar panels that go on top of the LifePorts. They came from Suntech Solar Technology.
The modular style of the LifePort™ design allows purchase of as many photovoltaic (PV) modules as desired. An array of 24 polycrystalline 200 watt PV modules will yield 4.8kW (dc) or 5600-kiloWatt hours per year- enough energy for most single family home’s annual useage. The power resides with the consumer. LifePort™ can be purchased in stages from the steel structure alone, or a roofed steel structure, all the way up to a fully integrated, grid tied 6.4kW power plant for those with larger energy needs.
