Tesla is working on electric car for the masses – an EV under 30 000$
After the Roadster for 100 000$ which is already available in US, the second car from Tesla is still in developpement ( code name ‘Whitestar’). The second one should cost about half of the first one. There might be a third one – electric car which will cost under 30 000$. Electric car for the masses. Yes. That’s what’s Tesla’s chairman of the board, Elon Musk, is talking about.
This project is still in early stages. It is still uncertain if Tesla will join one of the big car manufacturers to make some kind of partnership. Musk indicates the third model could be targeting annual production figures of about 200,000 units, based on his theory of volume versus cost – multiply the output volume by ten times and you can reduce the price by a factor of two, he says.
