The development team at the National Kahsiung university of applied sciences decided 2 years ago to broaden their advanced solar technology applications and start to make a car for the masses. The result is here.
The car has been developed for the WSC race in Australia, and then the commercial version was declined. The commercial version with 2-3 seats, the car is bigger and heavier.
The technical details:
- Weight is about 250 Kg.
- Length 3m (easy to park….)
- Width 1.3m
- Battery charging – few hours
The creator of the car, Ay Herchang said about the wehicle:
“Parts of the car will be made with Nomex honeycomb, a material widely used in aircraft and aerospace components for its high strength, excellent impact and fire resistance as well as its light weight.”
There are already European companies selling, or preparing to sell solar cars. Like Astrolab, which we made a review lately. But those cars in general costs as much as twice the price of this car ( about $24,600 ).
