Nissan will be producing EV called Nissan Leaf
The upcoming EV Nissan Leaf.
I really like this car. Nissan Leaf is a five-door car and more like designed for a family. It’s fully electric car, no hybrid. The new EV should have a top speed approaching 80 miles per hour and a range of at least 100 miles.
There is an official website for Nissan Leaf. The car should be powered with advanced lithium-ion batteries.
The car power’s is taken from unique array of thin, laminated lithium ion cells.
Technical Specifications:
- capable of delivering over 90 kW of power
- The motor is in the front and delivers 80 kW (107 horsepower) and a healthy 280 Nm of torque (208 pound-feet)
- Top speed of over 140 km/h (87 mph).
- 48 lithium ion modules
- To have a full charge, a 200-volt, single-phase AC charger takes less than eight hours (100 volt single-phase would take a double)
The launch will be in late 2010 in Japan, the United States, and Europe, Nissan LEAF ushers in a new era of mobility – the zero-emission era

Hello,
A nice looking car, the mph is great, but the mpg is a little low and also I don’t see anything about the pricing.
Darren,
I don’t think that even with solar panels on the roof you won’t get much more “juice” to be able to recharge your batteries. The think is to be able to have enough power to get back home (or to the nearest charging station). With a Bluecar maybee? The car uses a revolutionary technology battery which gives a great autonomy of over 250Km and the top speed 130Km/h. The Nissan LEAF looks like a really good car, apart from one let down.
The charging.
Did Nissan not think it might have been very good planning to put some kind of solar panels into the roof?
I know we don’t get much sun in the UK, but at least with solar panels in the roof it would give an extra few miles, and if you did get stuck somewhere miles away from the nearest electric charging point you could just park the car up and leave it charging on it’s own.
I wonder if when it comes out Nissan will bring out some kind of solar panel add-on pack.
We get a new car in October, and would have gone for a Nissan Leaf, but with the severe lack of garages having any type of support for electric vehicles I’m probably going to go for another Nissan Note, and hope in 3 years Nissan have worked something out.
