BMW is now committing to testing completely electric vehicles, but not quite ready to take the plunge to actually market them. “This step will allow the BMW Group to gain an initial knowledge of how mobility can be achieved efficiently using purely electrically powered vehicles. Our task here is to combine the ultimate driving experience with an efficient electrified drive with practically no emissions”, underlined Dr. Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

With this step, the BMW Group wants to gain initial findings as to how mobility from purely electric-powered vehicles can be designed efficiently.
That’s certainly not a promise to commercialize electric Minis, though pressure from other automakers who have announced electric cars will probably force BMW to react.

With this step towards the all electric the BMW group is renforcing their position on the carmaker scene. I only wish we all could benefit this car as soon as possible…
