What energy we’ll use to drive our cars tomorrow?
The solar energy for the car industry is still like a full of prototypes… while the compressed air car is like ready to manufacturing.
Compressed air: a system which work
Without risk of explosion, this system is particularly safe.
With this technology, we stop using fuel energy. Compressed-air is free resource and in infinite quantity. Does not pollute the environment neither.
There is several projects are currently in development. In France, French company MDI and the engineer Guy Negre propose a compressed-air car, MiniCat’ S (photo) which functions according to a thermodynamic cycle at 5 times and 3 separate rooms (2 cylindriirl rooms of aspiration and expansion and 1 spherical room of compression connected by an injector of air.
You can drive between 100 km et 200 km without refueling.
- Those cars functions on compressed air or gasoline with an air compression in case of difficulty.
- They’re fast: 110 km/h for One Cats and the Mini Cats (150 km/h for City Cats )
- Consumption is about 1 € per 100 km
As a “fuel tank” there are two reserves of compressed air of 300 litres under a pressure of 300 bars). This vehicle can be driven ten hours in urban cycle. Recharging is done at a local service station or with an air compressor device even the vehicle itself. The engine has a 35CV makes it possible to roll up to 110 km/h with an autonomy of 200 km in urban cycle.
The car will start to be produced later this year or early next year. Its price (my god !!!) should be from 3000 to 5000 €.
