Electric powered bike at the Reunion Island

Recently introduced by the city’s council a new electric bikes available for free to rent to the population of the city of St Leu (FR) (Reunion Island). The bike is carying a battery on the back inside a small trunk. The battery is charged by solar system at the city’s council. It’s rechargeable battery which helps the biker when he (she) is going up to the hill. There is 3 position on the bike to control how much power you take from the battery to help you to push.
The bikers are quite happy with that and find it easier to go forward. The battery is only helping the biker to move, it does not replace the ‘engine’ completely… But I found it quite usefull here at the Reunion Island because there is a lot of hills. It’s a tropical island though….
