BMW’s MINI going to be hybrid…
BMW is now committing to testing completely electric vehicles, but not quite ready to take the plunge to actually market them. As for hybrid cars that use a traditional gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, they should arrive “at the end of next year,” a company spokesperson for BWM was quoted as saying.
“This step will allow the BMW Group to gain an initial knowledge of how mobility can be achieved efficiently using purely electrically powered vehicles. Our task here is to combine the ultimate driving experience with an efficient electrified drive with practically no emissions”, underlined Dr. Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.
With this step, the BMW Group wants to gain initial findings as to how mobility from purely electric-powered vehicles can be designed efficiently.
That’s certainly not a promise to commercialize electric Minis, though pressure from other automakers who have announced electric cars will probably force BMW to react.
With this step towards the all electric the BMW group is renforcing their position on the carmaker scene. I only wish we all could benefit this car as soon as possible…

What a great article – I am all for looking at alternate fuels and the larger manufacturers need to look at what the public is asking for. Hopefully you will have an update in the future on how the BMW testing went.
I hope so too. I’m really into electric cars actually. There are more efficient. More ecological (no emissions) and trouble free hopefully. I’d really appreciate to find a EV on the market in the near future, which is not overpriced, so everyone could afford it…
